Matteo Iachino about his 2nd place at the PWA Sylt and the next event in Japan:
“The PWA World Cup Sylt has been a very nice event. 10 days of competition is always hardcore, especially when you are on stand-by all the time and you don’t know when exactly you are going to compete. The judges always adapt to the conditions and can change the plan and decide which division goes on the water. You have to be ready for everything. We competed for 3 days in different kinds of conditions. I was using the Starboard X-15 89 and 79. It was always wavy and the wind was between 6 and 20 knots. It was a good competition and I am happy about my results. I made some mistakes but I finished in solid 2nd place. This gives me a first position overall together with Maciek as we are on a tiebreak with the same points. I go into Japan in a much better position than last year, which gives me a better opportunity to attack the first place in the overall ranking. On the other hand this year the top 5 riders are very close and anybody can attack the first position. It will be a very interesting and nice last Slalom event of the year. I will try to give my best, be consistent and take it day by day.”
