The wind on the first day of the Fuerteventura World Cup Freestyle competition was nuclear. After the registration, the single elimination kicked off with a bang in very windy conditions with gusts up to 40 knots. In the beginning it was easier to find a ramp for an air move on the way out than finding a flat spot on starboard tack on the way in. But once the tide dropped as the afternoon progressed the big chop was replaced with little stunt ramps, which allowed the world’s best freestylers to show massive moves.

The single eliminations are almost completed. The next heat will be a re-sail of heat 13b between Maaike Huvermann and Lisa Kloster.

Then the semi final heats are coming up, which are Oda Johanne Brodholt vs Maaike Huvermann or Lisa Kloster and Lina Erpenstein vs Sarah-Quita Offringa in the women’s division. And in the men’s fleet the semi final heats are Antony Ruenes vs Amado Vrieswijk and Yentel Caers vs Adrien Bosson.
