On day four of the Fuerteventura World Cup we saw further 4 eliminations for the women and 3 for the men completed in winds ranging from anywhere between 15-30 knots.

Nicolas Goyard and Sarah-Quita Offringa lead the racing heading into the final day of Slalom tomorrow.

Marion Mortefon as the reigning world champion went on a tear to win 3 eliminations on the penultimate day of the slalom event. These wins significantly reduced Sarah-Quita Offringa’s lead to just 4.6 points heading into the final day. Sarah-Quita Offringa, who uses a classic fin setup, tried everything to hold off her main rivals on the foils, on the longer course in the bit lighter wind conditions. She took a lot of risk and chose the inside line around the marks. 2 or 3 knots more would have given her an advantage over the foils.

In the men Nicolas Goyard leapfrogs Johan Soe to regain the event lead. Things remain incredibly tight at the top heading into the final day, and although Goyard leads, just 1.9 points separate himself and Soe. It will be intriguing to see how the battle for the event title plays out tomorrow and also who manages to secure the final place on the podium between Iachino, Rutkowski and Vrieswijk.
